Bio of the teacher
Professor Chrispen Chiome holds a Bed, MEd and PhD in Educational Leadership and policy studies. He is the Director of the Teaching and Learning Centre of the Zimbabwe Open University and a Professor of Educational Leadership. He joined the University in 2006 as a Programme Co-ordinator in Education having worked in teacher education colleges prior to that. He rose through the ranks to become Professor of Educational Leadership in 2015. He has published 11 books, 18 book chapters and 53 research articles in refereed journals. He has presented over 71 papers at local, regional and international conferences. He is a researcher, who has traversed the globe to places such as Belgium, France, China, Morocco, Tanzania, Zambia, South Africa, Malawi, Botswana, Kenya and others. He is a member of the Distance Education Association of Southern Africa, (DEASA); World Social Science Forum (WSSF); African Council for Distance Education (ACDE), International Task Force for Teachers for Education for All (EFA), Policy Capacity for Innovative Governance and E-infrastructures for Africa (eI4Africa) among others. His research interests are in educational leadership, renewable energy, gender, leadership, poverty, sustainable development, inclusive education and open and distance teaching among others. He is the author of the sought-after book on school leadership entitled “School Leadership in a hyper-turbulent Environment.”
